Rules and Tactics clinic. Armed for the work shop with a PowerPoint presentation and a
metal drawing board with little magnetized sail boats stuck to it, the crews all chipped in
for a Mexican style potluck dinner, with wine and beers handy on the kitchen counters.
The atmosphere was more reminiscent of a 1969 High School Class reunion than of a
typical RRS clinic, if you know what I mean!No publishergodindCourse - RaceclasseClasse - Classj22j-22j/222012-03-05T21:56:57ZNews ItemCYA Women’s National Keelboat Championship https://www.slvyra.ca/articles/cya-women2019s-national-keelboat-championship The Hudson Yacht Club hosted this year’s CYA Women’s National Keelboat Championship. The Hudson Yacht Club now has seven boats and hopes to add two more to the start-line for next season. Sadly I omitted to publish it whilst he was still with us. So I am publishing it now, posthumously, with regrets.
Art built and maintained all the racing buoys that are used on our two lakes, and this is a little story as to how he went about it.
Please enjoy. I did!

His Yacht Club, IPYC, has sent me the Eulogies that were read at their club meetings, and I am attaching them here.
May his soul rest in peace.

But for many, that passion is often dampened by the lack of budget and time. Attending a regatta, appears to require a lengthy boat preparation, a complex arrangement of crew and logistics, punctuated by a hefty price-tag. On the other hand, participating in an event with over 100 boats and 300 avid sailors is a thrill that’s hard to beat. It is quite simply an unforgettable experience. So what’s the answer? Here is the boat that solves these problems: the J22.No publishergodind2012-02-27T01:49:59ZNews Itemsafeguarding the environment https://www.slvyra.ca/articles/safeguarding-the-environment This article was written for the members of PCYC . Sails are the most expensive and confusing maintenance article for a sail boat owner. There are so many different usages and price categories that it is hard to come up with a set of hard and fast rules, but in almost 20 plus years of selling sailboat sails I have noticed some patterns that might be helpful. No publisherGeoff Moore2010-04-15T03:51:19ZNews ItemNew Racing Sails vs Class Rules https://www.slvyra.ca/articles/new-racing-sails-vs-class-rules When you want to race at a certain level, you need to know the class rules very well. They tell you the do’s and don’t of boat preparation and what the maximum dimensions are for your sails. But in certain area they can be misleading. In fact you are sometime better with a smaller than class sail! Here are some of the details I asked for when I ordered my Tanzer 22 racing sails that helped me wim the 2005 T22 North American Champion. No publisherpmarois2009-06-16T01:23:52ZNews ItemThe PHRF handicap of your sailboat https://www.slvyra.ca/articles/the-phrf-handicap-of-your-sailboat As the Club de voile des Laurentides handicapper, I’m often asked “How come all the CVL’s Tanzer 26 doesn’t all have the same handicap?” Well, the short answer is “Because they are not all identical!”. Let me explain some of the basics of the PHRF system. No publisherpmarois2009-06-16T00:05:17ZNews ItemThe rebirth of the Tanzer 22 #1002 (Part 1) https://www.slvyra.ca/articles/the-rebirth-of-the-tanzer-22-1002-part-1 This is the story of a restoration (my wife would say rebuilding) project I did on a Tanzer 22. I live in Laval, a Montreal suburb and I sail on the Lake of Two-Mountains from the Club de Voile des Laurentides (CVL). At the end of the 2002 season, I was without a boat. I had just sold my Etchells “Coquine” (french for “Naughty Girl”) and I was looking for a boat that would be more practical for the family while still being able to do some racing. No publisherPierre Marois2009-06-15T23:35:37ZNews ItemThe 2009 sailing season is on! https://www.slvyra.ca/articles/the-2009-sailing-season-is-on The official 2009 Race Calendar is now online.
