2010 SLVYRA Trophy Awards

Jolly Widow (Fireball)

Joe Jospe of PCYC wins the Jolly Widow trophy for the 2nd year in a row after a spectacular Fireball season. Joe was 1^st place Quebec Fireball Champion, 1^st Place National Champion, 1^st place in the GNS series A,B,C, 2^nd place GNS series E,F,G, and to round it all out, 1^st place Fireball champion for the BYC PCYC sail week. Congratulation again Joe!!!

Hoskins Trophy (Laser)

The Hoskins trophy is awarded to Montreal’s Jean-Pierre “JP” Kiekens for his 1^st place finish in Laser District 2 Championships.

Deb Trophy (J24)

Top J24 of 2010 is “Premature Grey” skippered by Stephan Blais of PCYC. Stephan was the top J24 in the 2010 Hudson Long Distance race, and came in 2^nd in the following Sunday racing. “Premature Grey” also took 2^nd position for PHRF 1B in the GSN series A, B, C and 3^rd spot in series E, F, and G.

Kent Trophy (Tanzer 22)

Following his win in 2009, Pierre Marois of CVL collects the Kent trophy in the Tanzer 22 class. Pierre took 1^st place in the Lake of Two Mountains Wednesday series with 8 wins. “Coquine” finished 45^th at Hudson Long Distance race as the 4^th Tanzer 22.

Myrtle Cook (Women’s Crew)

The McAuslan Cup and Myrtle Cook race run by RSLYC in August is a women crew only regatta. Winning the Myrtle Cook trophy for the 3^rd time is BYC’s Beverly Gilbertson in her Tanzer 22 “Sorceress”.

Wayfarer Trophy (PHRF2)

The winner of 2010 trophy for best PHRF2 results is Ross Tellier of HYC helming his Niagara 26 “Redcoat”. “Redcoat” was top PHRF2 boat in the Lake of Two Mountains A and B series.

Vim Trophy (White Sale)

BYC’s Steve de Beneditti in “Moonraker”, taking 1^st place during Sail Week, and 2^nd Place overall in PCYC and BYC club racing wins the Vim trophy for the 2010 season.

Joan Gandier (Youth)

Montreal’s Martin Robitaille takes the Joan Gandier trophy for Youth achievement coming 1^st place in the Canadian Junior Laser Championship.

Goodfellow (PHRF3)

1^st Place Hudson Long Distance Race, 1^st Place in PCYC/BYC Sail Week, 3^rd Place CNDM One Design Regatta, all won by George Steadman, PCYC, in his Shark “Ketchup”.

EC Woods (One Design Fleet)

Originally the SLVYRA Cruising Cup, re-deeded to Largest One Design fleet, is awarded to George Steadman for his performance on both lakes during the 2010 series.

Mirage Cup (PHRF1/A)

HYC’s Allan Gray is awarded the Mirage Cup after winning 2010 Lake of Two Mountains A series with 8 wins in his Etchell “Slim” and 3^rd place finish in the Hudson Long Distance Race.

 (PHRF1/B)  (Cup for this awaiting re-deeding)

2010 Winner for PHRF1/B is Ron Harris in the J22 “Jack” from HYC with a first overall in the Lake of Two Mountains Wednesday series and 1^st J22 in the Hudson Long Distance Race (6^th overall).
